Summit Academy welding Instructor Brady Kirkwood is proud to announce that five students successfully passed their AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code—Steel certification tests.
The American Welding Society (AWS) D1.1 standard governs welding requirements for steel structures and is widely recognized throughout the industry.
Evan B., Jackson M., and Brian S. each earned their 1G certification, demonstrating proficiency in flat position groove welds.
Additionally, Kase M. and Izayah M. earned their second welding certification through our welding program by successfully completing the AWS 2G horizontal groove weld certification. This qualification expands their skills to include both flat (1G/1F) and horizontal (2G/2F) welding positions under the AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code.
These certifications represent an important step toward a valuable trade skill set that will serve these students well in their future careers.
